November 28, 2003PlayStation braves Chinese watersBBC: More than 60 million PlayStation 2's have been sold worldwide, generating almost two-thirds of the company's operating profits ... In the past, the major console manufacturers have steered clear of China because of the risk of product piracy. In September, Nintendo became the first one to brave the Chinese market, announcing plans to sell a version of its GameCube console. Now Sony has followed suit, aiming to capitalise on an untapped market for video games. Nintendo has a special GameCube version for China "We have to be courageous, to face the reality."
