Tweaking Genes and Hormones Gives Worms Lifespan of 500 Human Years

Better Humans

Tweaking genes and hormones in roundworms has allowed them to live and thrive six times longer than normal, to the equivalent of 500 human years.

Researchers from the University of California, San Francisco who have been working for several years to increase the lifespan of
Caenorhabditis elegans say that they have now got the worms to live three months or longer as compared to their normal lifespan of 18 to 20 days.
